We’re pleased to announce our next Open Day for French & Country. Over the weekend of August 20-21 we’ll again be featuring French homewares, imported and local fashion and vintage treasures. These special showings have become very popular with our regular customers who love the festive atmosphere and garden setting. You’re welcome to explore the Estate’s gardens, take time out for light refreshments in the Pavilion Cafe and share a relaxing day out with friends browsing through our latest shipments.

Parking is limited so come early to avoid disappointment. We hope you’ll join us.

Pascale Palun is an Avignon-based designer who started creating lighting and decorative objects made from old materials when she took a break after 10 years in the fashion industry to raise her son. Since then, she’s done interior design for John Malkovich and makes regular appearances at the bi-annual Maison & Objet trade show, leading to commissions from around the world. Her philosophy is that each piece should be “unique, made by hand and imperfect.” … We are so pleased to be able to bring her wonderful artworks to Australia and you will find this collection in our End of Lease Sale at Highland House until April 26, and selected works at our shops at Dirty Janes Emporium.

Hopsack feed bags from the US and Europe come in a range of styles , weaves,and sizes and lend themselves to so many fabulous uses. Originally they were used to transport and store grain/feed and other agricultural produce. Yesterday I took two crumpled, stained tub lampshades a hot glue gun and some European hopsack remnants and transformed them into a pair of fabulously ‘one off’ lampshades. The whole process took about 20 minutes and as a non sewer, a rewarding result! We have various hopsack items in stock. Call in and see us at Dirty Janes Emporium, Bong Bong Street, Bowral.
